The difference between plaster and render

The difference between plastering and rendering is the location of the surface that it is applied. Render is used for exterior walls, plastering on interior walls. Apart from this, the main difference between the two is the proportion of material used. The render needs to be durable and waterproof, because of this the materials used in the mixture are selected to cater to this requirement, for example, there is a larger amount of sand used in render mixtures in comparison to the plaster mixture. The plastering mixture uses very fine sand that helps interior walls achieve a much smoother finish.
