How to Order

It’s easy to hire from Frank Key Plant and Tool Hire, even if you’ve never hired before!

Choose to either reserve your hire on our website or visit one of our branches and speak to one of our experts. 


Reserve your hire on www.frank-key.co.uk

It's simple: 

  • select the hire equipment you require and add them to your basket
  • select the start and expected end date for your hire and whether you wish to collect form one of our branches or have it delivered
  • complete the required fields then confirm your order

You will receive an email confirmation of your order followed by a telephone call from a member of our team to confirm the details of the hire and take payment. 

All you need to do then is either collect from your chosen branch or await the delivery to your chosen address. 

For hires reserved on our website we charge a small Damage Waiver fee to cover you against accidental damage to the equipment whilst you have it on hire. This means that you do not need to pay large deposits for small tools and equipment. Damage Waiver does not cover you against damage caused by misuse, or loss, theft and cleaning. Damage Waiver is non-refundable. For larger equipment, such as diggers and scissor lifts, we will require insurance and a deposit as well as a Damage Waiver fee. 


Visit your local Frank Key branch to complete your hire

All we need to see for non‐account customers when you collect the hire equipment are two forms of I.D. including Driving Licence or Passport together with one recent household utility bill (no older than 3 months) showing your own name and current address. We may keep a copy of your driving licence and/or passport on file for the duration of the hire contract. 

It’s standard procedure for us to take a photograph of you using our webcam facility in branch if you are unknown to our staff. Of course, this is removed from our system when you return our equipment. 

No suitable ID provided, No hire!  You will then be asked to make a payment, including a deposit before hiring the equipment. Then use it as you wish, and return it by the agreed date. Easy!

Payments & Deposits

Simply pay for your hire equipment by Credit/Debit card or Cash, along with the applicable refundable deposit advised by the branch at the time of hiring and you’re almost ready to go.

We accept all major credit cards.

The deposit will be required subject to the duration of the hire and value of the equipment. The deposit is refunded when the equipment is returned, minus any applicable hire costs. Charges will automatically be made to credit cards if the hire continues over two weeks or if the continuing hire charge exceeds the deposit. Should you wish to hire the equipment for a longer period, a further deposit will be required.

We do not accept cheques as a form of deposit.

Insurance

Most of our smaller tools and equipment do not require insurance to be paid, as we charge a Damage Waiver fee (see above). Larger machines, such as diggers and scissor lifts, will require ‘Hired-In Plant Insurance’. Many businesses will already have this type of insurance, but if your business does not have this then should contact your company insurance provider. If you are hiring as an individual and not a business, you can still obtain short-term ‘Hired-In Plant Insurance’ from multiple providers so that you can hire out equipment that is usually only available to business customers.
