It was the year 2000. Ford had just launched its new Mondeo model. Tony Blair was prime minister. Former Manchester United defender Steve Bruce was proving his management credentials at The Terriers. Meanwhile, at Frank Key, local lad Adrian Helliwell was starting out on his career at our Huddersfield Plant and Tool hire branch.

Twenty years on, senior mechanical fitter Adrian is now marking his 20 years in-service at Frank Key. A faithful servant of the business, Adrian continues to apply his vast knowledge and technical expertise to the maintenance of our tool and plant hire equipment.

Craig Wheldale is Adrian’s manager. He says: “As well as being a fantastic fitter, Adrian is extremely hard-working, conscientious and truly valued here at Frank Key. He is probably best known around the branch for his love of dog walking. On behalf of everyone, I’d like to thank Adrian for his loyal service.”

Adrian has overseen many changes around the Huddersfield branch throughout the years, including Frank Key’s strategic acquisition of Banson Tool Hire in 2015.

He says: “Twenty years have flown by. Since Frank Key’s takeover in 2015, I have seen a lot of positive changes. I truly feel like part of the Frank Key family and valued by its management.

“It never ceases to amaze me how often people bring in ‘faulty’ equipment, when in fact it’s just a case that they haven’t actually turned it on! Regardless, I enjoy the daily challenges of my role and I’m looking forward to many more years here and continuing being part of the hugely successful family business.”
